Lets not underestimate the power of simple things. Very simple things. Because most of the time in life, it is these simple things that keep you moving. Let us think and ponder about it for a little while.
Academia. Dictionaries. Computer. Technology. Stress. Money. Language. Career. War. Terrorism. Success. Tell me. What other complicated things are lurking out there in the world? Are these the matters that are keeping you alive and kicking till today? Is success the one thing that you would want to think of when you are on your death bed? Would you like the last thing in your mind to be how you have changed the world? Or maybe. It is the pride of having thought of so many clever things to say in your lifetime and be intellectual. Well. Maybe that is what breathing in this world means to half the world occupants today. Or maybe three quarters. Or maybe 90.2%.
We have forgotten that it is the simple action of eating and drinking that make us move. We have forgotten that if we do not eat or drink, we can’t do any of the above ‘world-class, complicated’ things. We have forgotten that it is sleep, the very thing that we always think is a waste of time, that gives us the rest that we need so that we can move. We have forgotten that to sit down, is the exact remedy to a hard day’s work so that we can move again the next day. We have forgotten that breathing right, is the crucial thing to do when you are stressed. And it is not the spas and the long hours in a bathtub full of scented flowers and leaves and brown sticks.
You can change the world and make immense changes to the physical life and practices in the lives of communities. But if you are unable to stop in your tracks, breathe, reflect, savour the nature’s beauty and hear the birds’ twitter and notice the earth’s colours, you are no less than a human being who has turned into stone. You can make people smile because you have given them a better life in terms of material needs and support. But if you are unable to make them feel calm, thankful, bliss and blessed, you are no less than a computer which makes you happy because your job is made easier to handle but stresses you up every time it is unable to function.
My blog entries may be mundane. Unintellectual. But it declares the immense love I have for the simplest things in my life but hold a great strong grasp in my heart and mind. My blog entries may be unchallenging to the thinking mind. But it will strike a chord in the feeling heart. I think about things that intellectuals do not think about. Does this make me less of a thinker than intellects are?
It is the simple things, simple words, simple thoughts, simple actions…that make the greatest impact.
